Wanda Dickerson

Wanda L. Dickerson was born January 3rd, 1961 to the Late Otis C. and Katrina- Whiteside- Dickerson. During her early years, Wanda attended the Springfield School District, graduating from Springfield High School Class of 1979. During her time there, she was a member of the basketball team, softball team, as well as the track and field team. Wanda actually held the shot put record for over 30 years. Wanda loved to take care of people. It was no surprise to any when she turned this love and talent into a career. Wanda worked as a home health aide for many years, going above and beyond to many patients. Wanda was always the life of the party. She loved to go on road trips. Two of her favorite trips to take were with family to North Carolina, and Atlantic City. Wanda also enjoyed going to House Parties, Playing Cards, Eating Crabs, Hanging at the Morton Club, and Fun Nights with her Bonus Sister Group “Essence of Morton”. Wanda loved to watch sports with her brothers. She especially loved her Philadelphia Eagles. She was definitely the biggest and loudest fan in the room. “Wan Wan”, as she was affectionately called by many, was an amazing cook. She loved to nourish people with her food. She would feed anyone at any time. Although she could cook anything, she was best known for her perfectly seasoned fried chicken, cheesy macaroni and cheese, and “banging” seafood salad. Wanda loved the lord. As a child she was a member of the youth choir and Sunday School at Shorter AME Church, where she gave her life to Christ. Later in life, Wanda attended Wesley AME Church in Swarthmore, Pa. Even during the pandemic, on Sunday mornings Wanda made sure that Mimi set up her zoom so that she could get her praise on! Wanda was an amazing daughter, sister, and friend to many. However, nothing in this world meant more to her than her children and grandchildren. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do to make sure that they always felt her presence. She loved and spoiled her babies to the end of the world. She could always be seen and heard cheering during Mimi’s basketball games, as well as Michael’s football games. Wanda did not miss a game no matter the time or distance. She was their biggest cheerleader and #1 fan. On Sunday March 5th, The Lord saw fit to call Wanda home. She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter, Amira Dickerson (Norman), Son, Michael Wilkins II, Grandchildren, Hailey, Kendall, Layla, Bria, Michael III, Bonus Grandson, Bailey Green, Four Brothers, Otis C. “Speedy” Dickerson, Jr. (Deborah), Wilbur D. “Spuddy” Dickerson (Terry), Robert P. “Perry” Dickerson, Ronald “Jake” Jacobs (Renee) Aunt, Shirley Myers, Nieces, Teadra Glover (Kyle), Kimberly Branson (Tyre), Te’Shemma Dickerson, Nephews, Anthony Taylor, Andre Dickerson, Andrew Dickerson, Bonus Son, Blake Boland, Bonus Daughter ,Imani Johnson, Special Friend, Marva Wilkins, Special Sister, Juanita “Sister” Thompson, who preceded her in death, Essence of Morton Sisters, and a host of special nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
