Sally M. Harris

Sally Harris, of Claymont De, transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord on June 12, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. Sally affectionately known as Sis by her family and friends was born on May 25, 1928 to the late Luvenia and Robert Ferguson of Spartanburg S.C. Sally received her education from public schools located in Spartanburg, S.C. until her family relocated to Chester, Pa in 1947. As one of the eldest she aided her mother by using her many talents in the trades to assist the upkeep of her younger siblings by securing employment with the former Troy Laundry located in Chester, Pa. She later was employed and worked for West Chester State University through the remainder of her adulthood maintaining a supervisor role of Environmental Services until her retirement. Sally married the late Ernest L. Harris. Although Sally did not have any biological children, she had a strong desire to nurture children with in her family. Sally had a desire to serve and love the Lord. She later joined St. Luke C.C. Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Coleman. While attending St. Luke, she participated in various ministries. She developed a strong love of being a doorkeeper in the Hose of the Lord. She began serving on the Senior Usher Board, where she held the office of Head Female Usher. Sally enjoyed various activities such as bowling, traveling, line dancing, playing bingo, going to the senior center, saying what was on her mind, and spending time with her family and church family. She also was an active member of the Dean Stockton Auxiliary #3425 with her sister the late Dora F. Brown. Her favorite color is purple. Her favorite songs are” Take me to the King” by Tamela Mann and “Never Would Have Made It” by Marvin Sapp. Proceed in death by both of her parents Luvenia and Robert, her brothers Jerome, George Edward, Robert, and James Ferguson and her sisters Janice Ferguson and Dora F. Brown and her niece Shielda (Bonnie) Driggins. She is survived by her sisters, Meritha Yuille of Philadelphia, Bettie (Bernard) Audrey of Charlotte N.C., and Blandena (Cyril) Forcer of Claymont De. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, Her god-daughter Amayah, and friends.
