Lisa Carla Reavely-Bishop

Lisa Carla Reavely, 71, of Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2026. Born on July 4, 1954, at Chester Hospital, to the late Leroy Reavely and Lenora T. Reavely. Lisa was a true Chester original. Raised in the city she was loved and known by many for her strength, honesty, humor, and unwavering faith in God. Lisa married her best friend, David Bishop. They later divorced but their bond remained a meaningful chapter in her life. Their marriage would produce their 2 daughters who she loved and was super proud of. Lisa attended Lincoln Elementary School, Showalter Junior High School, and Chester High School, later earning her GED after retirement—proving once again that she did things on her own timeline and on her own terms. Early in life, she worked at the A&P Market before beginning a long and impressive career at the Philadelphia Electric Company (now Exelon). Starting as a meter reader, Lisa worked her way up and retired as a generator operator—an accomplishment so significant that today it would require an engineering degree. She did it with grit, intelligence, and pure determination. From a young age, Lisa was gifted and fearless. She was good at art, loved playing chess, riding bikes, and playing basketball. She and her brother Johnny built bikes together, and she and her sister Tanya became well known throughout Chester for their basketball skills, regularly playing at “the cage”. Lisa loved telling the story of playing with “Dr. J” who would later go on to basketball fame—and she told it proudly, with a smile. Lisa was a fierce protector of her siblings and would not hesitate to stand up to anyone who crossed them. She gravitated toward elders, soaking up their wisdom, and was known to be wise beyond her years. There truly wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. She worked on her own car—changing oil, brakes, and tires—remodeled her home by laying floors, knocking down walls, and building an island, constructed a pond in her backyard, and put up fencing. And she could cook. Seafood was her favorite, especially crabs. If it had crab in it, Lisa loved it. A Loving mother to Danyell and TaLisa and a deeply proud grandmother to her only grandson, Keedrin Janal Collins Jr. She taught her family to live with integrity, to work hard to always do their best, and to be honest. As she often said, “If you’ll lie, then you’ll cheat, and if you cheat, then you’ll steal.” Above all, she taught them to love—big and unconditionally. Lisa was a provider, a hard worker, and a woman of her word. She was brutally honest, genuinely kind, incredibly strong, and resilient beyond measure. She had an amazing sense of humor, loved to joke, and laughed easily. She showed up—every time—no matter the situation, always wanting what was best for others. Her heart was pure gold, and her love for her family, especially her nieces and nephews, knew no limits. Most importantly, Lisa loved God. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shelby Lynn Reavely; her sister in law, Rochelle Shipley; her nephews, Desmond Reavely and Kymeen Bennett; her beloved golden retriever, Buddy. She walked through the gates of Heaven hand in hand with her nephew, Darrion Beecham. Lisa leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Danyell Bishop Lewis (Malcolm) and TaLisa Lewis (Solomon); her beloved grandson, Keedrin Janal Collins Jr.; her sisters, Paula Haynes, Tyrrea Reavely, Tanya Butler (Wendell), Ernestine Davis (Eugene), and Benniea Reavely; her brother, John S. Shipley; her fur baby/golden retriever and companion, Sam; her grand puppy, Roxi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family—each of whom held a special place in her heart. Lisa Carla Reavely lived boldly, loved deeply, laughed often, and walked faithfully with God. Her legacy will continue through every life she touched. In her remembrance her family will be hosting a celebration of life on 1/30/2026 at Lux Room 112 located at 601 Upland Ave. Upland Pa. 19015 from 5pm - 9pm. Please come prepared to a share a memory if you so wish to. It would be greatly appreciated.
