KEVIN “BIG KEV” WILLIAMS Kevin Carl Williams was born in Chester, PA on May 7, 1958. He was the second child and only son born to "Willie C." Carl Williams and Doris Mary Adams Williams. He was surrounded with love growing up with his sisters Lynette “Ann” and Janet. He attended the public schools of Chester, graduating from Chester High School in 1976. While at Chester High, Kevin was enrolled in its Automotive Trade School program where he received certification. Kevin's love for working on cars came from hanging around his Pop Pop Charles Adams' garage as a young boy. Pop Pop had his own business up on Baker Street, not far from the house on Edwards Street. Kevin was often there - curious, eager, and quick to learn while closely observing his grandfather. Kevin would later work on cars in his family's backyard. Through Pop Pop's teaching and other formal training, Kevin became a master engine mechanic who was well known and sought after. Kevin was formerly employed by the ACV Automatic Coin Vending company. They provided jukeboxes, arcade games, and ATM services to the entire Delaware Valley area. After ACV, Kevin focused on following his passion. He committed himself to a full-time career as a self-employed automotive mechanic, which proved to be very successful. He was the best. He was affectionately called “Big Kev” by everyone because of his height and size. He may have appeared to be a giant, but deep down inside he had the heart of a teddy bear. When you went to Kev with a problem, our big teddy bear may have fussed and given you a hard time, but he always ended up doing what you asked of him. He never wanted to let down or disappoint his children, family, or friends. Big Kev truly fit the term "traveling mechanic”. He would go to wherever your car broke down -whether it was at your home, on the street, in a parking lot, wherever. He would fix it or tell you what needed to be done. His hobbies were playing the lottery, and watching cowboy westerns and game shows on TV. Kevin received his early religious training through Bethany Baptist Church’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Although not a member of a local church, he enjoyed receiving the Word of God as an adult through other ministries. Recently, he visited and joined the New Hope Missionary Family Church in Brookhaven, accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Kevin loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Whether it was a family event or just hanging out at home, he was happy. He loved to pile the little ones into the back of his pick-up truck, bouncing them around Chester like he was out in the rural countryside. He was cautioned that maybe this wasn't a good idea...but he didn't care, as long as they were all together, and neither did they! LOL! Kevin also enjoyed hanging out and riding around with his buddies. On Thursday, April 9th, our beloved completed his earthly journey. He was predeceased by his son Carl Johnson, parents Willie C. and Doris Williams, and his sister Lynette "Ann" Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children Kevin Johnson, Mychal Williams, Ashley Johnson, Karla Williams, Calvin Williams, Aaron Williams (Alee), and Stevan Williams; sister Janet Williams; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandson, and 1 niece. He is also survived by a special friend Gale Jones; bonus children Carmen Taltoan (Brian), David Jones (Dawn), Michael Johnson, Rashon Johnson, and a host of family and other loved ones.
