Karen Y. Benson

Karen Yvonne Benson Sunrise: August 29, 1961 Sunset: August 31, 2023 Karen, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, passed away suddenly at the tender age of 62. Affectionately called Mommy, Mom Mom, Sis and Bentz, Karen received her angel wings just two days after her birthday. Karen was one of several siblings, born to Robert Joseph Benson, Jr., and the late Lorraine Carroll Benson (passed away on April 8, 2022). She was reared in Chester Township, Pennsylvania, as the first daughter, which positioned her as the focus of her family and a great example for her sisters. She was the apple of her family's eye. Karen would follow her brothers to the dances on Saturday nights and show her sisters how to comb their doll's hair. Karen attended the local schools: Toby Farms Elementary, Resurrection Catholic, Douglass Middle, and graduated from Chester High School in 1980. Karen was hard working and ambitious. She worked as a waitress during her high school years. Once she graduated, she went on to study Business and Clerical courses at the Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. (otherwise known as O.I.C.). She eventually acquired several titles over time in the employment industry. Karen gained experience as a waitress, cashier, customer service representative, insurance claims adjuster, secretary, and a certified nursing assistant, which was the last position she held. Karen loved to decorate, draw, cook, have barbecues, gardening, crochet, soap operas, and music. The main and most important part of her was the love and admiration that she felt for her son, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. Karen leaves behind so many who loved her. Her bright light will shine forever in our hearts. She is survived by her Son: Aaron Lamar Benson, Aaron's father and Karen's companion: Richard Al Lamar Watkins, Grandchildren: Tanasia Chante Benson (daughter Andrea), Aaron Al Lamar Benson (son Ares), Arionna Danielle Pace. Father: Robert Joseph Benson, Jr. (Phyllis Benson, stepmother) Brothers: Joseph Paul Benson 1 (Marguerite Shelley Benson) Robert Anthony Benson (Ulette Benson) Warren McIntire (Jennell McIntire) Anthony Ali Benson Shawn Lamont Benson Sisters: Susan Deanine Benson Sandra Maria Sifford (Elliot Sifford) Nichelle McIntire (deceased) Tameka Foreman Karen was a part of a large family tree. She also leaves behind a legion of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
