Gregory L. Taylor

Gregory Lamont Taylor was born on May 23rd, 1956 in Chester, PA to Samuel A. Taylor and the late Arnita M. Taylor. In the quiet embrace of the evening on April 2, 2024, Gregory Lamont Taylor, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully. At the age of 67, he left a legacy of warmth, integrity, and resilience that will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew him. Gregory attended public schools in the Chester Upland School District. He graduated from Chester High School in 1975. While attending Chester High School he was a member of the Chester High football team, the Intermural Basketball and attended Upward Bound at Swarthmore College. His passion for education and personal growth led him to Virginia State University, where he not only gained his degree in 1980 but also made an indelible mark as a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Nu Psi Chapter, Spring 1979 on the Secret Seven plus One Line. After graduating college he moved to Diamond Bar, California. This move would shape much of his adult life, engaging in a career in sales where his charismatic personality and tireless work ethic shined. California is where Greg met the love of his life Crystal Bell Perrin. Greg and Crystal were married on November 12, 1987, his life was a testament to his deep capacity for love, a love that encompassed his devoted wife, Crystal, and was ever-present in the upbringing of their two sons, Cole and Braxton. Gregory's presence as a family man was marked by an abundant generosity of spirit, steadiness in times of trouble, and the ability to bring laughter and joy into any room. Greg was a quiet humble spirit who loved his family. He never got upset and always remained cool, calm, and collective even when he missed flights, taking his time to the airport. He always called his family while attending outdoor concerts, so we could listen to the music too. He always made it a point to find time to connect with those he grew up with. Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Arnita M. Taylor; grandmother, Pauline Taylor; sister, Angela Taylor; aunts Yvonne O. Mann, Flossie Crawford and Alberta Warrick. Cousin, mentor and fraternity brother, Bob Crawford Sr. Gregory leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Crystal; sons Cole and Braxton; and the apple of his eye his granddaughter Aaliyah all of Upland, California; his father Samuel Taylor (Dorinda) of Pennsauken, NJ; sisters Robin Taylor, Donna Taylor of Chester, PA; Dianna Jefferson of Colwyn, PA; Tanya Sanford of Chester, PA; brothers Keith Taylor Sr (Tyra) of Wilmington, DE, Jonathan Taylor (Cecilia) of Sicklerville, NJ; Jason Taylor of Pennsauken; Steve Cousar of Petersburg, VA.; Sisters in Law Chantell Caldwell of Las Vegas, NV, Rosalind, Terri and Lisha Bell of Philadelphia, PA, Brothers in Law Walter, Carl and Keven Bell of Philadelphia, PA and Lonnie Perrin of Seattle, WA; Aunts, Barbra Mitchell Pyle of Chester, PA; Virgina Doward of Chester, PA; fatherlike figure David Benson of Laverock, PA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, fraternity brothers and friends.
