Donna C. Hunt-Gibbs

A Life Well Lived Donna Hunt-Gibbs was the second child born to Melvin and Elise Randolph Hunt in Chester, PA on December 25, 1963. She received her early education in the Chester School System. Later moving to Delaware where she graduated from Concord High School where she played the flute in the Band and was a Manager for the Boys' Basketball Team. Donna furthered her education at Cheyney University receiving her BS in Special Education with a specialty in the Mentally/Handicapped. She was very proud to have attended an HBCU. She had a strong passion for educating youth. She would spend her own money purchasing school supplies, snacks and decorating her classroom. She not only gave her love and time to her students but to students throughout the entire school building year in and year out. Donna spent a lifetime mentoring and caring for students just like they were her own. Even as a full-time teacher she found time to coach the Cheerleading Team at Showalter Jr. High School, and taught summer school for 35 years. After 35 years of dedication Donna retired from her first job straight out of College in 2020. Donna was a member of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks as a daughter in Susan Shand Temple #103 where she was very active and always available to lend a helping hand. She fulfilled a lifelong dream when she became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc for 22 years. She believed deep in her heart that this was a serious matter. She was an active member and mentor. She actively participated in various committees holding the position of Graduate Advisor to the young ladies of Lincoln University. What she treasured most was the Educational Advancement Fund captain which raises money for scholarships for undergraduates. Donna has always set high goals and standards and achieved them every year, which was no less than miraculous. Her catchphrase was Ching-Ching which meant it was time to dig into those pockets. She pushed to complete this mission and it SOARED! Donna was predeceased by her father, Melvin Hunt. Along with her Dad and Mother, Donna was a die-hard all in Eagles fan. Donna leaves to cherish a life well lived, her husband, best friend and soulmate (you never saw one without the other) Rembert Gibbs, her heart and only child Dione Hunt-Allen (Brian) mother Elise Randolph Hunt, sister Debbie Hunt-Clemons, Atlanta GA, grandchildren Bailey Allen and Bryson Allen, 2 children in love Marissa Gibbs and Kameron Gibbs and a host of Family Members, and Friends.
