Rose P. Robinson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rose Patricia Robinson was born on December 31, 1944 to the late Abraham and Rosella Rochester. She was the 4th child of 10 children, and preceding her in death were Eva, Paul, Floyd, Lloyd, and Nona. Rose was born in Woodlyn, PA and raised in both Woodlyn and Chester, PA where the family finally settled. Rose was educated in the Chester Upland School District, while helping her mother raise her sisters and brothers. During that time, Rose attended and graduated from soldering school and began working as a certified solderer (building radios was her expertise) at the Wetherill Plant in the City of Chester. She also held jobs at Manchester Nursing Home and Prospect Park Nursing Home as a Senior Certified Nursing Assistant. Rose gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at a very early age. She was a young member of the 1st Baptist Church of Fairview and later a member of Freedom Baptist Church where her entire family attended. Although she didn’t belong to a particular church in her later years, she always maintained a personal relationship with the Lord. In 1960, Rose was united in holy matrimony to William ‘Billy’ Robinson. From that union, Patricia Michelle and Debra Ann were born. The marriage ended shortly after, but love was always shared for their children. Seven years later, Rose fell in love with Joseph L. Weddington, Jr., and from that union Teresa Darnette and Joseph Lee were born. She finally got her boy! While raising her children alone and taking care of her mother, she met her Knight in Shining Armor. Franklin Cochran was his name. They fell in love, and he raised her children as his own. Many years later, being the dedicated woman she was, Rose cared for Frank until the Lord called him home. Her love for him was unconditional and a forgiving kind of love . . never to be shared again. Rose meant different things to different people. She was affectionately called Trish, Trishy, Pat, Rosey, and Treese (as Daddy lovingly called her). She was Mother, Big Sister, Best Friend, Super Auntie, Advisor, Confidante, Bailbonds-woman, and Bodyguard. She carried the weight of the world and her family on her shoulders, and she never shed a tear. She never complained, because she loved her family so much. Rose’s pastimes included gathering with family to sing all the time, hitting those Patti Labelle high notes! She was a member of a young group called Harry and the Teens, which ended right before the birth of her oldest child. Her absolute favorite pastime was B-I-N-G-O! This was not just her hobby . . this was her JOB! She and her best friend and Spirit Sister, Barbara, took BINGO very seriously! Don’t play around with her JOB, and don’t you dare try to take her VIP seat! It was always reserved. Rose also enjoyed spending quality time with her grandson, Derrick. Since his birth, they shared a very special bond. According to Derrick, Annie Oakley (as he called her) was the most unique person he had ever met. Rose loved all of her grandchildren, no matter how close or how far they were from her. Those who remain to continue her legacy are her children, Patricia Michelle Tunnell (Travis) of North Carolina, Debra Ann Michael (Ronald Sr.) of Maryland, Teresa Darnette Robinson of Pennsylvania, and Joseph Lee Robinson of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Ina Johnson (Vernard) and Eleanor Doyle (Calvin) both of Pennsylvania; three brothers, Dennis Rochester, David Rochester (Lena), and Harry Jackson all of Pennsylvania; her best friend and spirit sister, Barbara Council; 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who loved her dearly.
