Orlando Wilkerson
February 15, 1939 - June 1, 2020
Age 81, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 1st, 2020. Born Feb. 15th 1939 in Chester Pa. Raised in Kings Mountain North Carolina, by Minnie & Emanuel Wilkerson at an early age moved to Concord Pa. At age 6 went to Garnet Valley Elementary School graduated from 8th grade. From there went to Media High School went to work at Chrity's Restaurant. Where he worked as a short order cook. From there to Concord Mushroom Co. For 7 years. Then drafted into the U.S. Army where he served at Fort Jackson South Carolina, Fort Hood Texas where he was a tank driver, radio telephone operator, corporal of the guards. From there Hanoi Vietnam where he was made Sgt. of the infantry div. Upon leaving the army Mr. Wilkerson was employed by America Viscoe by for 13 years when the plant closed he was employed by Cheney University for 9 years in the library. Then he was employed by Swarthmore College for 6 years then employed by the Chester Police department as a crossing guard. His favorite song I will not complain, favorite bible verse 23rd psalm. Survived by wife Nannie Wilkerson Mr. Wilkerson has two daughters Mary Wilkerson-Chester Pa., Lori Wilkerson-Choctaw Oklahoma step daughters-Diane McGruder, Tina Davis stepsons- Lionel Davis, Gerome Davis. Predeceased by daughter Lisa Wilkerson He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Chester Pa. and sang on the mass choir.
