Leslie R. Womack Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Leslie gained her wings on Saturday August 21, 2021, at the age of 80. Leslie was born on May 9, 1941, in Chester, Pa. She was the second born child of the late Eloise Berry and Clifton R. Berry Sr. She was educated in the Chester Public Schools. Leslie worked for the YWCA alongside her mother as a caterer at the age of 16 and later became the manager of the Pool department. Leslie retired from working at the YWCA, after 46 years, at the age of 62. Leslie grew up on Ulrich Street and moved to West 2nd street in Chester, PA. When she was young, she watched her younger siblings, loved dancing, skating, and playing family softball. She was the first teenager from Chester, PA to go onto the Mitch Thomas Dance Show. As Leslie grew older, she became an expert at making sweet potato fluff and macaroni and cheese and she loved feeding her family, friends, and others. Leslie’s favorite games to play was Pinochle and Pokeno. She loved elephants, going to the boardwalk to buy fudge, and had a green thumb. She was nurturing, heartfelt, and always willing to take care of others. Leslie met the love of her life Thomas “Bummer” Womack and the two married on July 31, 1961. They spent 56 years of life together before he departed this Earth on January 4, 2018. Together they had four beautiful children. Their life together was a true love story. They were inseparable and lived their lives as one for over five decades. Leslie was an active member of The Way Thru Christ Community Fellowship Church and served as a head usher and was a part of the kitchen committee. She enjoyed bible study and Sunday Service. Her favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 3:5-6. Leslie lived her life as a woman of God. Leslie was predeceased by her husband Thomas Womack, her Father Clifton R. Berry Sr. and Mother Eloise Berry, her son Ronald T. Womack, grandson Rahmaan Womack Sr., brothers Stafford C. Berry, Clifton R. Berry Jr. She leaves to cherish her son Thomas D. Womack, and two daughters Deidre E. Womack and Desiree D. Womack. One daughter-in-law Gretchen Womack. One brother Enric F. Berry (Debra) and three sisters Tamara C. Shaw (Dennis), Denise C. Wesley, and Shelly O. Tribbitt. Her seven grandchildren Shanone, Mashanda, Ronald, Braheem, Janasia’, Maraad, and De’Aira. She has fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
