Joseph Louis Granger Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joseph Louis Granger came into this world on January 02, 1936, to Johnnie Mae Stevens and Richard Granger in Chester, Pennsylvania. He attended schools in the Chester-Upland School District and joined the United States Marine Corp at the early age of 17. After the Marine Corp Joseph moved to Atlantic City, N.J., where he resided for many years. Joseph was a dapper young man, he was an avid reader, loved to travel, and had an entrepreneurial spirit. Some of his life achievements consisted of the following: published the first minority newspaper in Atlantic City, owner of a night club and boutique, author of "A Hole in The Ceiling.” Joseph was a family man and we affectionately called "Uncle Joe.” He always talked about his life growing up in Chester, the Payne family and his best friend Mr. Watts. During family functions Uncle Joe loved to share his life experiences with his nieces and nephews. He loved attending Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where he enjoyed Pastor Robinson and his church family. Joseph Louis Granger was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie Mae Stevens and Richard Granger, his siblings, Arlene Albritton Bell, Richard Granger, Ruth Howie, and Maryann Queen. He leaves to celebrate his life Kamylla Albritton (his caregiver), Darcel Howie, George Howie (Teria), Simone Davis (Leroy), Tyrone Howie (Tammie), Cousin Lois Coleman and the Smith family, a host of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
