Imani Symone McKinney was born on April 26, 2015 in Reading, Pennsylvania to Anthony McKinney, Jr. and Mylasia Francis. On October 2, 2020, at home surrounded by family, and in her sleep, Imani was called home to her Heavenly Father. Imani attended Preschool at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit and was to attend kindergarten at Chester Community Charter School. Imani courageously fought a battle with osteosarcoma and was wise, sweet and good beyond her years. She had the ability to connect with everyone she met, and was known for her contagious and affectionate smile, as well as her beautiful black curls. Imani was full of love and life, and had remarkable strength. She has touched and impacted the hearts and lives of many people. Imani loved to sing and was joy personified. Her favorite colors were pink and purple, and her favorite flower was the sunflower. Imani could often be found surrounded by her LOL dolls and unicorns. She also had a great love for animals. Imani was a daddy’s girl and her mommy’s princess. She was also the apple of Mom-Mom Jackie’s eye. Her father remained by her side throughout her illness and spent many nights at DuPont Hospital. He referred to Imani as his best friend. Imani was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Michael Francis. She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Anthony McKinney, Jr. and Mylasia Francis; paternal grandparents, Anthony McKinney, Sr. and Jacqueline and Eric Bond; great grandmother, Annette Burton and maternal grandmother, Patricia Gulley; her siblings, Jayani and Amirha Lopez, a very special aunt, Janae McKinney and a host of other family members, friends and social media followers.
