Obituary We are here to celebrate the life of Howard Marvin Mixson Jr. Howard was born on November 20, 1948 to the proud parents of Howard and Lillian Hyland Mixson in Chester, PA. Howard attended Chester Upland School where he graduated in 1966. Howard began to work in various jobs well before completing school. He gained a great reputation as a man with strong work ethics. He was very well liked. Howard worked at Scott Paper Co from 1970-1994, where he followed behind his father that also retired from Scott Paper Co. After working in a plant for a number of years, Howard trained himself to become a contractor. He worked hard at it with so much determination to do good. Mickey, our chosen name through life for him, would often give men who were having problems getting jobs a chance at employment. We often asked him, " Why not get dependable help?" His reply was hoping to help these men find reasons to get up every day , to earn honest money rather than the alternative, was Mickey's way of spreading God's work among people that he shared time with. Mickey loved people, and he was loved. Howard knew the Bible as if he studied at a seminary. He not only knew it, he shared it with whomever would listen. After Mickey was stricken with a stroke, he didn't talk for a while. We were so concerned, we would talk, sing, play music to get through to him. His wife Evelene read his favorite book of the Bible (Daniel) every day. Howard's daughter Michelle sang to him. He smiled when she sang because he had encouraged her to use her lovely voice. Having a Church to attend was an important part of Mickey's life. Once the covid 19 happened, his Church in Delaware closed, and Mickey went in search of a Church to share fellowship and hear the Word of God. Integrity Christian Church gave him what he's been missing, and this became home to him. “He placed my feet on solid ground” Howard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Evelene, daughters: Marva Mixson (Bear, DE) , Michelle Mixson (Bear, DE), Marchelle Mixson (New York), and Chauntae Mixson (Chester, PA), sons: Howard “Aaron” Mixson (Trish) Newark, DE, Stephen Mixson (Amanda) Drexel Hill, PA. Also, part of his family, stepchildren: Devon Bailey, Du Juan Bailey, Dy Tiesha Sims. Grandchildren: Antoinette, Elija, Caden, Cole, Jaxson, Skylar, Charlotte, and Emma. Sisters: Patricia Howard, Doris Jones, Francine O'neal. Brother: Fredrick Mixson. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and so many dear friends. Lovingly submitted, The Family.
