Goldie Maggie Delores Turner January 15, 1938-August 11, 2021 Born and raised in Washington, DC, Goldie was cared for as well as transitioned peacefully in the arms of her grand-daughter Tish (Lillian) on August 11, 2021 at the age of 83 at her home in Chester, PA. Goldie was born on January 15, 1938 in Washington, DC to the late James Webster and Murrile Sylvia Smallwood. Goldie was educated in the DC public school system (DCPS). Goldie worked as a daycare provider for Children and Youth services in Delaware County. She attended Delaware County Community College, she was involved in picketing for Justice, attended Martin Luther King’s I Have a Dream Speech in 1963, The Equal Rights March The (Civil Right Act) in 1964, The Poor People’s March in 1968, The Equal Rights March in 1978, gave her baby sister Connie a kidney on June 6, 1990 and attended the Million Man March in 2015. Goldie was the third oldest child of the seven children: Donald Smallwood (deceased) Ronald Smallwood (deceased), Rosalie Scott, Annette Ridley, Connie Brown (deceased) and Wayne Smallwood. Goldie loved fishing with her companion Arthur Sudler (deceased) and her friend Ms. Stephens who is also (deceased). Goldie especially loved to fish and go out on the boat with her son Larry. Additionally, Goldie enjoyed going to the casino with her sister Rosalie Scott (Chi Chi) when she came into town. Goldie also liked to dance and enjoyed listening to her favorite song artist Marvin Gaye. Goldie is predeceased by her husband (Lawrence C. Turner), parents (Webster and Murrile Smallwood), sister (Connie Brown), two brothers (Ronald and Donald Smallwood) and her daughter (Arlene Whitaker). Goldie leaves to cherish her memory her children Nasiryah Abdul-Mateen (aka Puddin), Larry Turner (Evette) Maurice Turner (Jill) and Jackie Turner; her siblings Rosalie, Annette and Wayne; She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and a close special friend Vera Cyler. Goldie’s memories will always be cherished. She was known to many as: Mom, Mommy, Ummi, Grand-Mom, G-G, Beak, Mom Turner, Mrs. Goldie, Go-Go, Goldie, G and Dr. Turner.
