Carmen Pierce Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carmen Virginia Pierce, seventy-four years old of Media/Chester Pa passed away suddenly at Crozer Chester Medical Center on April 6, 2019. Carmen was born on April 3, 1945 at Chester Hospital to father Kennard C. Pierce and mother Amelia Rhoda Dorsey, Pierce-Blake. Carmen was raised in Media Pa, she attended South Media Elementary School; she later attended Garnett High School in Chestertown MD and Ridley High School in Ridley Pa. She married Johnson Scott on April 18, 1965 but later divorced in 1970. Carmen worked at Workman Circle for about 5 years but most of her working years she was a stay at home mom. Carmen was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends. She loved reading the Bible, Seek and Find Puzzle Books, watching TV shows such as Little House on the Prairie, Law and Order SVU, Lifetime movie channel, a variety of games and anything where you had to solve the mystery. Carmen was also known for her cooking especially Fried chicken, Baked macaroni and cheese; Potato Salad and Fruit Tea just to name a few. Carmen loved her family and her family loved her. Although the family wishes that Carmen was still here with us, our heavenly father had greater plans for her. God looked down at Carmen and dispatched an angel to guide her home; her work here on earth was done. Carmen is preceded in death by her father Kennard C. Pierce, mother Amelia Rhoda Dorsey, Pierce-Blake, grandmother Rhoda Dorsey, brothers: Kennard (Sylvia), Ronald (Minnie), Robert (Mary), Russell and Dennis Pierce, sisters: Barbara Durnell, Alice Gardner, Ruth Vinson and other relatives which include aunts, uncles, cousins, niece and nephews. Carmen leaves to mourn daughters: Camille Grant (Keith), Anissa Pettijohn-Lundy (Hardy), son: John Scott, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson, brothers: Calvin Pierce (Carolyn), Vincent Blake (Robin), Lloyd Blake (Emma), sisters: Verna and Sandra Pierce, Irma Benson (William), Iris Ryals (Bill), her lifelong partner for over 40 years Lorenzo “Gabby” Pettijohn, BFF Jeanie Harper and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. Funeral arrangements will be held at St. Paul A.M.E Zion Church 712 Washington Ave Media Pa 19063, Saturday April 20, 2019viewing 8:00am to 10:00am funeral services will commence promptly at 10:00am officiating the service: Rev. Joshua M. Walker, Pastor of St. Paul Church, and Rev. Damon N. Carver Eulogist. Burial will follow at Media cemetery in Media Pa. Arrangements by Earl L. Foster Funeral Home of Chester Pa.
