Ann E. Kearney

May 12, 1939 - July 2, 2020

On Thursday, July 2, 2020, Ann Kearney, loving Mother of 6 children passed away at age 81. Ann E. Kearney was born on May 12, 1939 in Chester, PA to Dorothy Thomas and Percy Empson of Wilmington Delaware. A graduate of Chester High School. She worked at Child Protective Services for 16 years and as a CNA at Lima States until disability force her to take early retirement. She married Horace Davis in 1955 and shared 6 children. After his death in 1980, she met and married William Kearney in 1983. Ann E Kearney attended the Cornerstone Christian Ministries and was an active member of the choir. She volunteered for many events held at the church including serving meals after funerals, reading scriptures during Bible studies and other community events. She also was a member of the Red Hatters and the Elks Tent. She had several loves such as reading and crossword puzzles. She loved the casino and was an avid traveler! She visited on the East Coast from Canada to the Florida Keys including cruises to Cozumel and Belize. On the West Coast she visited Alaska to Hawaii. She even did International travels to Amsterdam, France, Italy, Austria and Germany. One of the places she loved the most was Venezia (Venice) Italy. Those that has visited her home will see a picture of her standing with her arms outstretched and birds taking peanuts. Even though she loved cooking, baking was not her strongpoint! Her children meant the world to her. She was strict as a single mother but she did it with love. Even the neighborhood children loved her. She would feed them, bathe them, discipline them and then send them home to their parents. She states that one more child did not make a difference and treated us all as one! During her years as CPS, she would bring a child to the house that needed foster care overnight! That child knew that it was protected and had many brothers and sisters even for one night! Ann E. Kearney was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy, father Percy, husband William (Sonny), sister Renee, daughter Regina, grandchildren Mike, J., and Brandon. She is survived by 5 children, Darlene (Jose), Horace, Cheryl (Mike), Melvin and Gale (Bevan) and two stepchildren Victoria Smith and Karen (Tina) Carey. She has 19 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and other relatives. The Homegoing Service is to be held: July 11, 2020 at Cornerstone Christian Ministries at 2914 West 9th Street, Chester PA 19013 at 10 am. Viewing is at the church from 8:00 am to 10:00 am prior to service. Final Resting at the Chester Rural Cemetery. Light meal after service. Due to Covid-19, MASKS ARE MANDATORY!
