William L. Dill

William L. Dill, age 68 (Billy - "Top D") as he was known to many was born on Decembert 11, 1954, to the late Melvin C. Dill Sr and Dorothy L. Dill in Chester, PA entered peacefully into eternal rest on April 18, 2023 in Anchorage, Alaska. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia A. Dill of Anchorage, Alaska, 1 son Clarence Walker (Brandi) of Indianapolis, Indiana; 2 daughters Stephanie M. Dill of Houston, TX; Donita C. Dill of Stafford, VA, mother Dorothy L Dill, 4 brothers Lafenus Derrickson, Melvin C. Dill Jr (Lenora), Kevin L Dill and Darnell Dill all of Chester, PA. 3 sisters Sandra Peterson, Chester PA, Melva C. Dill-Jenkins (Sam) of Middletown, PA and Eva M. Dill-Smith (Douglas) of Claymont, DE., 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded by his Father Melvin C. Dill Sr. 2 Brothers Martin T. Dill (Marty), and John E. Derrickson. Bill was educated in Chester School District before enlisting into the United States Marine Corps in January 1972 serving his country for 22 years retiring in 1992 with honors and earning numerous awards, medals, and recognitions. That wasn't enough, he began a new career with the Anchorage School District NJROTC Program in February 1992 spending 22 years with the young men and women at The Chugiak High School in Chugiak, AK and he retired in April 2014. He still could not remain still and kept busy in the community as a Medicare Volunteer Extraordinaire. In his down time, you could catch him anytime, in any state at some casino at a poker table doing what he thought he was the best at but there was always someone much better looking him in the eyes, but he loved the game. Billy also enjoyed baseball, riflery, and shooting pool another sport he thought he was the best at. He was loved by everyone that he came into contact with, he was an all-around kind of guy sweet, caring, funny, and a fashioned dresser and yet so firm, if you had the pleasure of being in his company you would never forget him. He left footprints wherever he went, he gave his all to his family, friends, his work and his country. He would travel many miles to get home to Mom (Big Momma as many of the grandchildren would call her) and also to see Auggie to get his Dicostanza's hoagies to take back to Alaska. There was a special moment in his life, of many, that put a million dollar smile on his face with the tears when he was told his grandson Da'Saun wanted to follow his footsteps and join the United State Marine Corps. He slimmed down just to fit into his dress blue uniform to take a picture with his grandson.
