In Loving Memory of William Edward Benson A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather brother, uncle, and friend. William Edward Benson, 78 passed away suddenly and quietly in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side, on the morning of January 14, 2022. Immediately, his family and friends gathered to comfort, support, and console one another for the days ahead. William was born November 27, 1943, in Darby, Pennsylvania to the late Robert and Agnes Benson. William was a life-long resident of Chester, PA. After graduating high school, he was drafted in the United States Army and served his tenure in Viet Nam. William worked for Sunship Building Company, and a few local companies before retiring from Boeing after being employed there for 31 years. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to William. He loved spending quality time at home with his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He was such a handy man. He loved working side by side with his wife while completing many home renovations. William had a love for fine automobiles and enjoyed working on cars, as well as detailing them. He enjoyed NASCAR, hot rod and drag races. He was an avid football fan with a love for his favorite team, the Los Angeles Raiders. William also had a love for cooking and watching westerns and old TV series. William enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and they enjoyed spending time with their Pop-pop. William’s pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. His kind and gentle spirit shall continue to be with us as we honor his legacy by living our lives to the fullest. He loved fiercely and deeply, we take comfort in knowing that William is with our loving and Heavenly Father. William is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Agnes Benson, brothers: Joseph, Thomas, and Lawrence. William is survived by his loving wife, Irma; sons: Edward Vincent Blake Sr., (Bobbyjo), George Edward Blake (Nicole), daughters: Regina Ann Walker, Theresa Louise Benson, grandchildren: Thierra Shonte Walker, Taijia Kamiele Rice, Marissa Joan Peterson, Khenya Jasmine Peterson, Layla Irma Blake, Imani Blake, Jordan Edward Blake, Edward Vincent Blake Jr., one great-grandchild Taidom Rice, brothers: Robert (Phyllis), George of Chester, PA, and Michael (Cynthia) of Middletown, DE; sisters: Agnes Currie (Levon) of Philadelphia, PA, Roberta Palmer of Yeadon, PA, Patricia Daniels (Gary), Elizabeth Benson, and Rose Benson of Chester, PA and siter-in-laws: Deborah Benson and Margaret Benson of Chester, PA, aunts: Mary Sutton of Chester, PA, and Grace Benson of Sharon Hill, PA, many nieces, nephews, family and friends. “Goodbye William, until we meet again in that great getting-up morning”.
