Ulysses R.E. Ginn Sr.

Born to Ulysses R. E. Ginn Sr and Hattie Williams Ginn in Chester Pa. Married to Barbara Ann (nee Laws). He was the father of six. Dawan, Santa Ana Ca (Joetta), ShaRee, Newfield NJ (Kevin), Uly’es, Egg Harbor City NJ (Nelson), Kia, Atlanta GA, Herschel, Chester PA (Kim), and his predeceased son Evin. Bob had 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. He leaves also, not to mourn, but to cherish his loving memory, his nephew, and nieces. Joey (Blinky) Harvey, Catherine, Joann, Pamela, Zain, and his predeceased nephews James (Jimmy) & Robert Harvey. Bob was educated in Chester Upland Public School. He received his certificate for Carpentry and Interior Decoration from PA Industrial School. Bob served in The US Army as a Sargent during Korean Conflict. A member of the VFW. Retired from Scott Paper Company after 35 years. Bob was an original modern-day house flipper. Trained in carpentry he remodeled homes in the area for many years. Once retiring he filled his time with opening and managing several bars in Chester. Member of the Bar Guild Association he held many offices. Along with his wife he opened Ginn’s Bar and Grill. Ginn’s is where he spent time cultivating relationships with people of all gender, creed or color. He always had a few words of wisdom or a song to give to his patrons for inspiration. He believed in bringing entertainment to the area. Many local and some big stars have entertained or just had a drink at his establishment. Bob believed education was very important. He ran and was elected as County of Delaware office of State Director in the Chester Upland School District where he served four years. An avid sportsman. Recognized as “The Ice Man” around town for being the first to have a No Hitter in the Control Pitch League. Avid Bowler for many years. Played semi pro football for Chester Bears. He was inducted into Delaware County Black Hall of Fame in 1989. Bob Loved his Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Braves. A member of John A. Watts Lodge of Grand Lodge of Elks. Were he obtained the honor of being Past Grand Exalted Ruler. During “The Annual Mother’s Day Parade” he was always leading The Chester High Band. Interested in politics. He was well known to help get voters to the polls. He loved cooking, traveling and fashion! He was known for his wardrobe selections. He leaves to mourn him several nieces and nephews, cousins and family members and adopted men and women he held in his village
