Sheila Y. Gonzales

Sheila Y. Gonzales affectionately known to all as “FeFe” was born on March 15, 1956, in Chester, PA to the late Rafael Resto Lopez and Mattie Green. Sheila (FeFe) was called to rest and departed this life on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Her life journey tells a story of incredible determination, perseverance, success, and her enormous love for life, singing, traveling, and people. She was full of life, laughter, comedy, and fun. She had an appreciation for music and loved to sing. She didn’t sing, she “sang”!!! She was definitely blessed with the “Gift of Voice”. Sheila (FeFe) was well-known and active in her community, she volunteered at the Elder Community Center in Chester, PA, where she enjoyed playing bingo, group events, and traveling. She had no boundaries when it came to using her time and resources. In her early years, Sheila (FeFe) was educated in the Chester Public Schools, she attended: Franklin Elementary School, Showalter Jr. High School, and Smedley Jr. High School. Sheila (FeFe) attended and graduated from Chester High School in 1975. The Class of 75’ was the first graduating class from the “new” Chester High School built in 1974. Sheila (FeFe) was very active and involved in her school years. She was a member of the Chester High School Marching Band where she was one of the “front line” trumpet players. She was also a member of the Chester High School Choir and Gospel Choir. Sheila participated in various athletic sports activities during her school years. Sheila continued her education in the 80’s at Bloomsburg University of PA in Bloomsburg, PA and she attended The Philadelphia School of Arts in the early 90’s. Sheila (FeFe) dedicated more than 15 years of service as an Administrative Assistant BCC, ICC, and the Dean’s Office at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA. She was later employed as the former Senior Secretary of Alumni Relations at Lincoln University in Lincoln University, PA. Sheila‘s (FeFe) earlier employment consisted of various short-term small-scale undertakings. Sheila (FeFe) loved the Lord. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Chester, PA. Even though she wasn’t always physically able to attend, she was faithful with her personal worship and time with the Lord through songs, praise, and prayer. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael Resto Lopez, and Mattie Green, her brothers Eddie and Tyrone Pinkett, and her special, much-loved niece Sheila Y. McLaughlin. With hearts grateful for her life, but saddened by her passing, she leaves to mourn: 3 sisters: Arlene (Cookie) McLaughlin, Carmen Lindsey; and Venus Jones. 3 brothers: Roscoe Green, Robert Warring, and Shawn Pinkett. And a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will forever stay in the hearts of her lifetime friends, Sheila Knight, Sandra Walker, Dolores Davis, Roxie Daniel, Lucinda Roten, and a special friend and caregiver Diane Watson.
