Ruthaline H. Johnson

The Life Story of Mother Ruthaline H. Johnson Ruthaline Henrietta Johnson was born June 16, 1948 to the late Oscar Nance, Jr. and Thelma Robinson Nance. After a lengthy illness she departed this life April 1, 2023 with her children at her side. Ruthaline was the oldest of eight children born to Oscar and Thelma Nance. She was a mother figure for some of her younger siblings. Ruthaline was educated in the Chester Upland School District and graduated from Chester High School with the Class of 1966. After graduating from Chester High School Ruth (as she was affectionately called) gained employment with the Laundry Service alongside her father. She left the laundry and gained employment with Haverford State Hospital in Haverford Township, PA. She worked there until she retired in 1998. After leaving Haverford State Hospital, Ruth joined the ranks of Walmart as a Greeter. There, she warmed the hearts of hundreds with her infectious smile. Ruth also worked diligently with the Miracle Children’s Network while at Walmart. Ruthaline received Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Jerusalem COGIC under the pastorate of Elder Laurence P. West in Twin Oaks, PA. Much later she joined The Church Triumphant Ministries, Inc. under the pastorate of Overseer Barbara Hobbs. There she served as Mother of the Church, Head of the Kitchen Ministry, a behind the scenes member of the Outreach Ministry and she served as a member of the church’s Leadership Ministry. Mother Johnson was staple in her church community, She also served as a confidant to her Pastor. In January of 1968, Ruth married her childhood sweetheart Lamar William Johnson. From this union three children were born: Lanisha Nakish, Lamar Jamir and Kevin Michael. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Dwight, Michael and Stanley Nance, a special niece, Tiffini A. Ray and nephew Devon Nance. Ruthaline leaves to cherish her beautiful life her children, Lanisha Johnson, Lamar Johnson and Kevin Johnson; her siblings, Oscar Nance III (Shirlene) Evelyn Carol Rawls (Francois), Overseer Barbara A. Hobbs, and Herietta Nance; her grandsons, ShaLeel Johnson, NiShawn Johnson, and Jahsir Turner; her granddaughters Armani Franklin and Takai Edwards Johnson, great grandchildren: Sa’Liyah Johnson, ShaLeel S. Johnson, Sah’Nyah Gardner Johnson, Sa’Myiah Johnson and Sana’a Johnson along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Triumphantly Submitted, The Family
