Norvell J. Queen Jr. "MOOK"

Norvell Jamar Queen, Jr., the son of Monica Coursey Queen and Norvell Jamar Queen Sr., was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on October 23, 1994. He departed this life on March 27, 2023 in Newark, Delaware surrounded by love ones. Norvell, affectionately called “Mook” was educated in the Chester Upland School District and Brandywine School District, graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 2013. After graduating, Norvell attended Delaware Technical Community College pursuing a career in culinary arts. He worked as a Barista at Starbucks and a Peer Support Specialist at Recovery Innovation. Norvell was a diehard Eagles and Sixers fan; enjoyed watching the games with friends and family. He also enjoyed listening and singing to music, especially Hip Hop. Norvell was well liked and was considered the most quiet of his friends. His smile was contagious, his charm was irresistible. His friends described him as selfless, funny, supportive and a true friend. At the age of 18, Norvell met the love of his life, Danae Hatchett. Through their union, in 2016 they were blessed with a son, Noah Jamar Queen, whom he loved deeply. Norvell loved being a big brother to his sister Maya, always calling her “Baby Sis”; however his niece, Nola Monae, captured his heart, calling her “Muffin”. Norvell was preceded in death by his grandfather Douglas Coursey, great grandmothers Mildred Queen, Lillian Mixson and Geneva Williams, his best friend Taron Hester. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Noah Jamar Queen, Wilmington, DE; his parents Monica Coursey Queen, New Castle, DE, and Norvell Queen Sr. (Renee) Woodbridge, VA; sister, Maya Queen, New Castle, DE; niece Nola Monae Davenport, New Castle, DE; love of his life, Danae Hatchett, Wilmington, DE; paternal grandparents, Glendora Harper, Wilmington, DE; Stephen Willams (Jennifer), Sarasota, FL; maternal grandmothers, Francine Mixson O’Neal, Claymont, DE and Tamara Coursey, Brookhaven, PA; aunts, Tyra Taylor (Keith), Wilmington, DE; Lameisha Coursey, Wilmington, DE; Erica Coleman, Chester, PA; Godmother, Patricia Howard, Brookhaven, PA; Godfather, Darrin Alexander, Newark, DE; as well as a host of relatives and friends. Sickle Cell Anemia- an inherit group of disorders, red blood cells contort into a sickle shape. The cells die early, leaving a shortage of healthy red blood cells (sickle cell anemia), and can block blood flow causing pain (sickle cell crisis). **Donations to William E.
