Nancy D. Thomas

Nancy D. Thomas, affectionally known as Nana, was born on June 6, 1946, in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Walter Edward Cox, Sr. and Mozell Hughes Cox. She attended the Chester School District and graduated from Chester High School in 1965. She graduated from the Practical Nursing Program with Chester School District in 1966. Nancy is survived by her children, Tammy Cox-Cottman (Anthony), William Thomas (Constance), and Jason Thomas, Grandchildren, Ebony Thomas, Tara Cottman, Tamia Cottman, Amber Thomas, William Thomas, Elijah Thomas, James Thomas and Donavan Williams. Siblings, Elizabeth Cox, Lewis Cox, and Wanita Cox, Louise Lodge, Brothers-in-law, Charles Marshall, and Bernard Neal, Sisters-in-law, Alvirta Cox, Daphine Croom, Alice Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is predeceased in death by her husband, William Thomas, her parents, her brothers, Bennie Cox, Willie Cox, Albert Cox, Fred Cox, Walter Cox, and her sisters, Mary Cox-Neal, Celestine Marshall, Janetta Cox, and Alease Lodge. Nancy began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in March of 1966. During her time at the Crozer, Nancy served in Pediatrics for many years before transferring to a role in Patient Transport, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to supporting patients across multiple areas of care. She dedicated 43 years to Crozer and retired in January 2009. Nancy received multiple service awards throughout her career at Crozer. Nancy devoted much of her free time to caring for and supporting those she loved, including her parents, siblings, friends, and extended family members. She found great joy in spending time with family and friends, often gathering around a table for a friendly game of cards and creating cherished memories together. She was a devoted member of Freedom Baptist Church and their choir. Nancy's faith was an important part of her life and a source of strength and inspiration. Nancy found her greatest joy in the time she spent with her family. She cherished every adventure with her beloved sister and faithful sidekick, Sissie, who was rarely far from her side. She treasured sharing devotions and singing gospel music with her sister, Wanita, and deeply valued the meaningful conversations she had with her brother, Lewis they shared an unbreakable bond filled with laughter, companionship, and countless memories. Known for her kind heart and selfless nature, Nancy was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, or simply be present for anyone in need. Her compassion, generosity, and unwavering support touched the lives of many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, friendship, and service that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
