Margaret "Maggie" Johnson

Maggie Lee Jacobs was born December 23, 1955, to Irma Jo McPhail Jacobs and the late James R. Jacobs. She was born at home on her grandparent’s farm in Wade, N.C. Her granddad nicknamed her (Husky), and family and friends call her “M”, Mag and Maggie. Her parents moved the family from Wade, N.C. to Chester, PA where she attended Perry Wright Elementary School. She played field hockey and basketball at Chichester Senior High School until she graduated in 1973. After high school Maggie attended North Carolina Central University for two years and then earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Widener University in 1992. In the year of 2004, Maggie earned her MBA in Logistics from Wilmington University. Maggie first met “Chard” (as she called him) Richard Johnson in ninth grade in 1969. Richard sat in “M’s” chair on the first day of school… “M” came in late that day and when she arrived she asked, “who is that boy sitting in my seat?” then in 1971 they started dating while in high school. Dating for eleven (11) years, Maggie knew she had met the love of her life. They married on September 4,1982 and shared forty (40) years in wedded bliss. After their marriage they became parents to her biological niece Enjoli Sincere Jacobs, whom they loved and raised as their own since she was seven (7) months old. “M” worked numerous jobs: Southeast National Bank, Denny’s, Scott Paper, QVC, Wawa, and Macy’s. Maggie enjoyed working in the corporate world where she enjoyed helping and encouraging others to obtain their future goals. Also, Maggie started her own business “Page M”, selling women’s clothing and accessories. As a young child her worship life began at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of their Pastor Elder West and 1st Lady Mother West. She served on various choirs and auxiliaries as a member and leader. She was always thinking about the welfare of others and was always willing to help financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Maggie kept a list of everyone’s birthday. She and Richard made sure no one was forgotten. All the kids loved Auntie” M” and Uncle Richard. Maggie loved traveling with family and friends. In later years, Richard and Maggie loved to vacation on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts annually with Sincere, family and friends. Maggie’s Father: James R. Jacobs transitioned to glory in 2013. Maggie leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of over 50 years “Chard” Richard Johnson, her daughter Enjoli Sincere, Mother Irma J. Jacobs, three (3) Sisters – Barbara Stephens, Pastor Betty Laws, Angela Jacobs, and one (1) brother: James R. Jacobs. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Also, a special friend Elizabeth Pinder who had a special place in M’s heart. “M had many close long-term friends (far too many to name) who will cherish her memory such as: Roxina Anthony-Rumley whose friendship she was inseparable ever since junior high school and her “North Carolina Sister” Tonya Davis Hall from her NCCU college days whom she visited every year for homecoming.
