Malina L. Rasin-Carter

Malina L. Rasin-Carter was born on January 7, 1952 in Chester PA., to the late William and Inez Rasin. She departed this life on January 28th, 2022, at Aventura at Pembrooke. Malina was educated in the Chester School District. Malina worked for 24 years as a Customer Service Representative/Office Specialist at Prudential Insurance Company of America. After the office moved, she became the church secretary at Grace Community United Methodist Church and later was employed as a data entry operator at Vanguard Claims Administration. Malina was a member of several churches during her lifetime. She attended St. Luke Community Christian Church with her mother and sisters as a child followed by membership at Temple of Brotherly Love. She and her mother later joined Grace Community United Methodist Church where she enjoyed working with the children. She was actively involved in teaching Saturday School and Vacation Bible School. Her next church membership was at New Spirit Community Church where the late Rev. Walton Burke was the Pastor. During the last years of her life, she worshipped at Word Walking Empowerment Ministries where Rev. Michael Evans Sr. is Pastor. She enjoyed the services, Bible study and fellowship with other members. She was also active in the hospitality and greeter’s ministries. Malina attended services until health issues limited her involvement. Malina participated in many activities during her lifetime. As a young adult, she liked the swim classes at the “Y” and had no fear of the water. When the teacher said jump in the pool, she did not hesitate! Malina fancied herself a “farmer” and loved planting a garden. Although she liked starting the garden, she left the harvesting to her mother. However, Malina particularly enjoyed sharing the “Big Boy” tomatoes with her neighbors. Malina loved to cook, and her macaroni and cheese rivaled that of her mother (so she said). She also liked making and selling crafts at flea markets. Malina was honored by the Chaplain of Four Chaplains for her volunteer work at the Red Cross. Malina was predeceased by her husband, Solomon Carter and brother-in-law James Roper Jr. Malina leaves to treasure her memories two sisters, Dr. Joyce Rasin of Aston, PA and Marie Rasin Roper, of Charleston, S.C.; a cherished cousin, Elder Victoria Wilson with whom she shared many prayers and talks; and many cousins and friends.
