Lorraine Bradley-Trice

Lorraine Nita Bradley Trice was the third child born to Joseph, Sr. and Ruth Bradley. She was the perfect gift born on Valentine’s day, February 14,1952. With broken hearts, we watched as the Lord gently called her to her heavenly home on Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2025. “Raine” or “Rainey” was educated in the Morton-Springfield School District. She attended Sidney Smedley Elementary School and graduated from Springfield High School in 1970. After graduation, Lorraine was employed by Harleco in Philadelphia. While there, she made some lifelong relationships. Lorraine was blessed with two boys, William and Donald. They were her pride and joy. She spoiled them tremendously even down to buying the same toys in duplicate for each of them so neither had to share. She was a very involved mother, devoted and caring. You could always hear her in the yard at 31 Pennington jointly calling their names, “Billy and Donald”! Lorraine also has a nephew, Joshua, who was her bonus son. She raised him out of love as her own. Josh was spoiled just like the others, if not more. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for Josh and everyone knew it. You better not mess with her Josh. The community is where she was given her most famous nickname, Rainbow. Her neighbor, Danielle “Nikki” Saunders gave her that nickname when she was a little girl and it stuck. Everyone, everywhere knew her as Rainbow. It was even embossed on her clothing. In 1982, she began her career with the United States Postal Service. She worked for the “post office” for over 42 years until her retirement in 2024.That is where she met her future husband, Anthony Trice. They were married in September, 1989.They were two peas in a pod. You didn’t see Rainbow without Tony or vice-versa. They were inseparable. It was always fun to watch Tony drive while Rainbow rode in the back seat. We would tease and say he was driving Ms. Daisy. Their union lasted over 29 years until his death in April, 2018. Rainbow was a lover of music. She was an avid line dancer. Even during her illness, you could still hear her singing the “oldies”. It was fun to watch her dance while watching day-time TV, especially when she heard “Boots on the ground”. Rainbow was the beloved sister and aunt of the family. She was also the feisty one. She loved and cared for everyone in the family and it showed. Along with her boys, her nieces and nephews were very important to her as well. You could ask her for anything and you would receive it. She had such a giving heart. Lorraine was also that way in the community. There wasn’t a graduation, baby shower, bridal shower or wedding that she wouldn’t attend. If unable, she would definitely send a gift. Halloween was one of her favorite holidays. She was well known for always giving out full-size candy bars at Halloween. There was always a line outside 31 Pennington. Rainbow didn’t do the little fun-size candy. The 4th of July was another favorite holiday. You could always catch her and Tony with their matching red, white and blue outfits on setting up the yard at 31 Pennington Avenue. Rainbow was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by hard work, compassion, and her unwavering love of family. Her passing has left an unmeasurable void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her. Let us remember her not for the way her life ended but for the way it was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Along with her parents and devoted husband, Lorraine was pre-deceased by her sister, Stephanie and her only brother, Joseph, Jr. affectionately known as Buster. Our hearts ache that she is no longer here in the physical, but we will continue to smile as we remember the many memories we each shared with her. Those memories will be cherished by her sons; William Bradley (his wife Jeanne), Donald Bradley (his wife Nicole), and Joshua Irons; Nadine Bradley, a devoted sister who lovingly cared for her throughout her illness; sisters; Marion Colston, Zoe Ortiga, Norine Bradley and Eunice Brown; a special granddaughter; Anijahray “MiMi” Bradley; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five aunts; a special nephew, Andrew Brown; beloved nieces and nephews; a devoted God-daughter and caretaker, Debra Hagans; two God-children, Renita Lloyd and Nathan Stewart; special lifetime friends, Diana Joe and Eunice Johnson; special work “daughters”, Mo’Nique Trotter and Shawna Nicks, many cousins and friends.
