Lamont Draine Sr.

Lamont Draine, 66 of Chester, PA, passed away on November 17, 2019. He was born on November 22, 1952, to the late Edna P. Crew Draine. Lamont lived and was educated in the city of Chester. While receiving his diploma from Chester High School, he worked at Litton's Restaurant along side his mother. Soon after graduating, Lamont gained employment with Sun Oil Shipyard, at Chester’s waterfront until its closing. He worked for Joseph Stong Heating & Plumbing Company for many years. In 1986 he then began a 5-year apprenticeship program with Local 692 Sprinkler Fitters Union. Upon his successful completion and not long after, Lamont advanced in his career, becoming a Foreman and overseeing many projects throughout Philadelphia and the Tri-State areas. As he made his way through life, Lamont was committed to providing for himself and his family. As a Sprinkler Fitter from Local 692 with Oliver Sprinkler Company, he helped install fire protection systems in places like: • Citizens Bank Park Stadium • Lincoln Financial Field Stadium • Penn University College • Temple University College • Saint Joseph University College • Penn University Hospital • Philadelphia High Rise Liberty 1 • Philadelphia High Rise Liberty 2 After his retirement, he spent most of his time going to flea markets, gardening, landscaping his yard, and rehabbing houses. If anybody needed something fixed, they called on Lamont. Our father had a heart of gold and gave unconditionally but would get in your world if he needed to (with a “little snap back” from time to time). He also took care of the neighborhood. If anybody needed anything, they went to Mr. Lamont because he had everything. He had a passion for cooking and fed everybody with his delectable dishes. He would initiate a jam session, playing his instruments along with rapping and singing on his microphone. He always enjoyed a good sound system, and listening to all genres of music. He was a collector, which included his many hats. He also enjoyed good action flicks and westerns. One of his favorite things to do was go fishing with his sons. He taught them to be well rounded men and good fathers. He gave his daughters his strength. Lamont moved on from this world to join his Aunt Marian”Ann”Sherrod, Mother, and Granddaughter Kenda M. Holmes, who predeceased him in death. Lamont leaves behind his wife, Violet K. Draine From Honolulu, Hawaii, married for thirty-three years since May 10, 1986, along with many children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Lamont’s Children: *(Spouses) Dawn H.
