Kevin E. Fitzgerald

Kevin Everett Fitzgerald, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend departed this life on March 9, 2025. Kevin's warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit left an enduring imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was born on September 11, 1962, in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late James T. Fitzgerald Sr. and Frazier E. Fitzgerald. Kevin was raised in a loving home and attended parochial schools before graduating from Chester High School’s class of 1981. From a young age he carried a deep sense of loyalty, service and value in his community. He later married his beloved wife, Erika, on November 9, 2018, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories. Kevin was affectionately known as “The Mayor” by his family, a testament to his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Kevin’s welcoming smile and genuine heart made everyone feel valued and heard. He never met a stranger—only friends which is what made him so unique. After high school, Kevin pursued many positions in the workforce, always embracing roles that allowed him to serve others. He worked at Fair Acres before finding his true calling at the Chester Water Authority, where he dedicated 35 years of service. A devoted and faithful employee, Kevin built lifelong friendships and became a well-respected figure within his department. On March 1, 2025, just days before his passing, he officially retired, closing a significant chapter of his career with pride. Beyond his professional life, Kevin was deeply rooted in his community known as “Smurf” he was a cherished mentor and coach at The Boys Club in Media, Pa. where he always encouraged young men to strive for greatness. His heart for service extended into his faith, following in his father’s footsteps. He grew up attending Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a Jr. Deacon, a male chorus member and later a dedicated member of the kitchen staff until 2020. In July 2022, he found a new spiritual home at Seeds of Greatness Bible Church in New Castle, Delaware under the leadership of Pastor Jerome L. Lewis where he proudly served on the security team. Kevin’s legacy of love, service, and faith lives on through his devoted wife, Erika, his beloved daughter, Renata Fitzgerald, sons Andreas Wilkins, Derrick Glascoe, Damon Sutton, his beloved grandchildren, his cherished mother Frazier Fitzgerald, mother-in-law Diane Glascoe, brothers Edward Fitzgerald (Majorie), James T. Fitzgerald Jr. (Chastiti), Rodney Fitzgerald (Diana), sisters Denise Raisin (James), Cynthia Mcknight(Warren), beloved niece Tiffany (Maurice) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. His presence was a beacon of light and his impact on his community will never be forgotten. Though Kevin has left his earthly home his laughter, love and legacy will continue to shine in the hearts of those he encountered. We celebrate his life with gratitude cherishing the memories of a man who gave so much and asked for nothing in return. Rest well, Kevin you were truly one of a kind.
