Celebrating the Life Of Mrs. Katie Louise Armor “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” -Proverbs 31:28-29 Katie Louise Armor was born on November 24, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina, as the seventh child of the late Nathan and Elizabeth Kirkland Green. She lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family. On Sunday, January 26, 2025, she peacefully departed this earthly life and answered the call to her Heavenly Home at her residence in Bear, Delaware. Educated in the public school system of Columbia, South Carolina, Mrs. Katie Louise Armor earned her high school diploma from Booker T. Washington High School. She went on to build a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service, where she began as a clerk and later advanced to the role of Supervisor. With dedication and excellence, she proudly served for 32 years before retiring. Mrs. Katie Louise Armor accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and became a member of Brown Chapel AME Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life, leading her to serve as a dedicated and active member of several church communities. She worshiped faithfully at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Laurelton, New York, Merrick Park Baptist Church in Queens, New York, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Twin Oak, Pennsylvania, and New Life Christian Center International in Wilmington, Delaware, under the leadership of Pastor David Pope. On December 29, 1960, in Columbia, South Carolina, Mrs. Katie Louise Armor and Mr. James E. Armor were united in Holy Matrimony. For sixty-four (64) years, they shared a remarkable journey of love, commitment, and unwavering faith, building a legacy filled with cherished memories, devotion, and the blessings of family and friends. Katie was a true social butterfly—there wasn’t a party where she wouldn’t hit the dance floor. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, always eager to share their accomplishments. Each of her grandchildren was the apple of her eye, holding a special place in her heart. If you knew anything about Katie, you knew she was a giver. She gave selflessly to anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. A hardworking woman, she rarely took a day off, always putting family first. She shared a deep bond with her siblings and had a special way of making her nieces and nephews feel like they were her favorite—earning her the beloved title of 'Favorite Aunt.' Katie had a passion for traveling and cherished vacationing with her family. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of financial responsibility, ensuring they were prepared for the future. Above all, Katie’s love for the Lord was undeniable. If you found yourself at 130-09 225th Street on a Sunday morning, you knew without question—you were going to church! Her favorite phrase was, “Now you know the rules and regulations….Mind your business”. She was preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Elizabeth Kirkland Green, and her eight siblings Prince Albert Kirkland, Alberta Green Hayes, Samuel Green Sr, Nathaniel Green, Lula Belle Bookert, Julius and Eugene Green, and Henrietta Mack. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory; her husband, James E. Armor of Bear, DE, her six children, Walter Armor of Richmond, VA, Charmaine Primus of Columbia, SC, Verlean (Anthony) Greene of Virginia Beach, VA, Shawn Armor of Virginia Beach, VA, Felicia (Eric) Cole of Roosevelt, NY and Eddie (Leslie) Armor of Bear, DE. Brother James Albert (Julia) Green of Columbia, SC. Best friend Rosa Smith of Charlotte, NC, and her two Goddaughters Carol Willis and Karen Smith. She also leaves to mourn fourteen (14) grandchildren, seven (7) great-grandchildren and two (2) great-great-grandchildren.
