Frances D. Morgan

Frances Deborah Strand Morgan was born on July 7, 1929 in Upland, PA to the Late Lewis Strand and Emma Jordan Strand. On Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Crozer Chester Medical Center, God called Frances from labor to reward to take her well-deserved rest, with her family at her bedside. Frances attended and graduated from the Chester Upland School System. Soon after, she furthered her education at Neumann University and Immaculata College where she studied in Nursing. Upon graduation she was employed by a number of hospitals including St. Agnes, Sacred Heart and Crozer Chester Medical Center, where she was the supervisor of the Dietary Department for over 40 years. Frances did it all and she loved every bit of it. As a young lady Frances met and married James R. Pete and from union 3 children were born Shirley, James Jr. and Sylvia. As a young child Frances was a true and faithful member of First Pentecostal Holy Church under the leadership of the Late Bishop Walter N. Strobhar. While attending First Pentecostal she was involved in many ministries including the Bible Church school, Kitchen Ministry, Adult Choir and the Nursing Ministry. She was faithful to all until her sickness prevailed. She loved and appreciated her earthly leaders, Bishop Samuel W. Ellis and Elder Vernadine Ellis. First Pentecostal meant everything to her. In her later years, Frances met and married Amos Morgan, which brought a lot of joy, laughter and memories until his passing in 2002. Frances loved her entire family, her community and most of all her Church. Every holiday, especially Christmas, she would have a big holiday spread on her table and a gift for everyone that came through her door. Frances showed her love by what she did and how she did it. To Frances, family was everything. Throughout her lifetime she raised a number of foster children and cared for them like they were her own. Frances was predeceased by one son, James R. Pete; two daughters, Shirley Kattes and Shawn Morgan; one son-in law, Michael Kattes; and one grandson, Jerome Pete. Frances was also predeceased by all of her siblings, Marshall Jordan, Harry, Jacob, Buster, Walter, Bill, Mary and Alice Strand and Emma Bowland. She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Sylvia Collins, Diane Morgan and Isabella Morgan; two sons, Marcus and Anthony Morgan; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, five godchildren, two special sisters, Joan Gerst and Jeanette Blackwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
