Faye P. Tyson

Faye Pace Tyson was born on June 19th, 1954, to the late Amos Pace Sr. and Eula Mae Pace in Chester, Pennsylvania. She was the 7th born of ten children. Faye peacefully transitioned on February 10th, 2026, with her loving daughter by her side holding her hand. Faye was educated in the Chester Upland School District and graduated from Chester High school in 1972. She furthered her education at the Crozer Chester Medical Center School of Neurodiagnostic Physiology and graduated from these studies in 1983. She chose this career path in response to the health condition her late brother John experienced following the Vietnam War. Faye received her associate’s degree in allied health from Widener University in Chester, graduating with honors in 2010. These were proud accomplishments which she and her family celebrated with enthusiasm. In 1975 Faye married the late Richard R. Tyson. From this union one daughter Sonya Evette Tyson was born. Faye’s employment included Boeing Vertol company in the late 70s followed by becoming one of the first African American EEG (electroencephalogram) technicians employed at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) from 1983 to 2006. Faye’s work involved assessing the precise electrical activity of a patient’s brain. For the following twelve years she worked in health care for several companies. Around 2020 she began working at the Christiana Care Hospital in Delaware continuing her career in EEG where she was employed up until her recent illness and passing. Faye loved many aspects of life. She especially enjoyed the love and company of her family. She enjoyed countless moments of joy & happiness with her colleagues’ creating memories while helping others. Faye had a zeal for adventure. You could find her spending time outdoors taking walks, enjoying the birds and flowers, attending concerts with her sisters and nieces, spending time with family supporting seminars and conventions, it made no difference, she loved it all, especially participating in exercise and dancing. She would certainly be found on the dance floor at any party! Faye was also a fierce competitor and a very good sport. She enjoyed almost any game you can think of and “I want to win!” is something she made known. She enjoyed watching TV…the old black and white movies, Murder She Wrote, psychological thrillers and suspenseful chillers such as Twilight Zone were some of her favorites. Among her memorable qualities was her undying thirst for knowledge; Faye was a student of life always seeking to know and understand more. Her faithfulness to God and love for “all mankind” showed through in everything she did, every interaction she had. While her life on this earth ended abruptly, Faye’s faithfulness to God, and her insistence that prayer to Him be offered in the name of Jesus, never wavered. Faye accepted God’s great gift of eternal life, and she was baptized in April 2025. She was predeceased by her parents Amos Sr. and Eula Mae Pace and her brother John E. Pace. She leaves to fondly cherish her memory her loving and devoted daughter Sonya (Khaleem); 5 sisters Diane Weathers, Ruby Council, Mary Lou Pace, Margie Walton, Denise Jimerson (Edwin); 3 brothers Amos Pace Jr. (Irene) Broxie Pace, Dennis Pace Sr. (Genevieve); 3 grandchildren Kiajzei Tyson-Wray, Kaianna Tyson-Allen, Saleem Allen Jr. (Kalya); 1 great granddaughter Clover Raine Allen; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family and friends including her lifelong friend Christine Reed, beloved cat Minnie and bonus daughters she lovingly referred to as “The Posse.”
