Legacy of Life and Love for Elaine Deloris Bowman (Mom Mom) It is with Great Jubilation that the family of Elaine Delores Bowman announces her transition on Saturday November 22, 2025, with her beloved husband, children and grandchildren right by her side. She was born to the late James and Bernice Dickerson on July 17, 1938, in Crum Lynn, PA. Elaine attended the Ridley School System and graduated from Ridley Township High School Class of 1956. Elaine Bowman was the oldest of 14 children, which meant she had to do a lot of helping out, assisting and caring for her younger siblings just to give her parents a breather. When her mother got sick with Cancer Elaine did not hesitate to take her in to care for her, and when her mother died at the early age of 45, Elaine was given the task of caring for her younger sisters. At that time in her life she was just newly married with 2 young children, herself and a husband that loved her just that much to agree to take in her sisters, Elaine stepped up to the plate and took them in. I know this was not an easy task for her to do having to deal with a husband, 2 young children and now some teenage girls; but with much prayer they weathered the storm. Elaine has been married to Herbert Bowman for a long time 68 years and from that union they had 2 daughters Yvonne (Bonnie) Chambers and Yvette (Letty) Dodson, 2 bonus daughters Pam Gordon and Lesley Heygood, 3 grandchildren, Talaina Bowman, Rick Dodson and Shana Chambers, 6 Great Grandchildren, Walton Garnett, Shane Garnett, Hasaan Garnett Chambers, Yvonne Denise Garnett Chambers, Macsyn Tate and Mujaria Fareed and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elaine worked at Taylor Hospital as a X-ray Tech, Scott Paper for over 30 years, Chestnut Ridge, Blessed Katherine Drexel for more than 20+ years. She is a member of St. Luke CC Church where Dr. George Anderson is Pastor; her and her husband lead their Devotional Services each Sunday Morning, and she was also a Class Leader until her health began to fail her. Elaine will help out whoever and wherever it is needed. Elaine has been a MomMom at Blessed Katherine Drexel for over 20 years she has touched the lives of so many young people there, by teaching them songs and distilling Christian values to them, even today whenever she sees one of her babies who may now be in college or fully grown that was under her care they still call her MomMom. She taught them a saying which meant to be quiet, keep a secret, and not tell anyone, often used as a command to be silent. “ Zip It, Lock It and Put It in your Pocket !!! she didn’t want her children telling on each other or anyone else. Elaine was hit with a task of caregiving to her husband Herbert when he fell down the steps and broke his right shoulder and left wrist; task was putting it mildly because Elaine is the type of person that can and will spoil you, which is what she did to her husband even before he broke anything, so he really was so Very Helpless !!!! not being able to use either hand meant that she had to do Everything for him. Elaine is preceded in death by her Parents, James and Bernice Dickerson, 5 brothers James (Jimmy), William O (Billy) Frankie, Barry and Kevin, 3 sisters, Bernice (Sissy), Vivian (Diane), Jean a Daughter Syreeta Barksdale And a Great Grandson Jaden Fareed. Elaine leaves to cherish and honor her memories, her devoted husband and best friend of 68 years Herb (Poppie), her daughters Yvonne Chambers and Yvette Dodson (Rick) of Chester, PA. she also has been blessed with 2 Bonus Daughters, Pam Gordon and Leslie Heygood of Chester PA; 4 sisters, Janet Benton (Brook), Charlene Scott, Sandy Barnes, Phyliss (Tina) Johnson and 1 brother, Henry (Marty) Dickerson (Sheila). Grandchildren, Talaina Bowman, Rick Dodson and Shana Chambers, Great Grandchildren, Walton Garnett, Shane Garnett, Hasaan Garnett Chambers, Yvonne Denise Garnett Chambers, Macsyn Tate and Mujaria Fareed, a brother n law William (Bill) Bowman (Dot) and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. As time began to wind down with her life she would often say to the family I wanna “Go Home” and GOD heard his Baby Girl and did just that on November 22, 2025 and took His Daughter Elaine Delores Dickerson Bowman back home with Him!!! Family and Friends are invited to a Service of Celebration on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Luke CC Church, 320 Tilghman St, Chester, PA 19013 Viewing will be from 9-11 and Services will begin at 11 AM Internment will be Friday December 12, 2025 Chester Rural Cemetery, 441 W. 21st St. Chester, PA 19013. The Family of Elaine Delores Bowman would be honored if you would join them for the Repast immediately following the Interment at St. Luke CC Church Fellowship Hall, 320 Tilghman St, Chester, PA 19013
