Darlene H. Brooks

Her Life Story Darlene Hattie Brooks- Dillard was born to the late Margret Ann Weston and Robert Lee Brooks on December 27,1961 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Darlene received her education in the Philadelphia Public School System. Darlene spent a great part of her life in the Frankford section of Philadelphia as well as Newark, NJ. Darlene was baptized at Deliverance Evangelistic Church in the early 1990’s, along with her daughter Shaheida. She obtained a certification in Basic Bible Doctrine. Darlene’s passion was cooking and caring for people. She was well known for her baked macaroni and cheese among many other recipes. Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Darlene worked many years as a nurse’s aide at Temple Continuing Care as well private duty nursing for several years until she became a homemaker. In 1976 Darlene met Spencer, together they raised three children, Dawn, the late Spencer and April. Although Spencer and Darlene did not remain together, they maintained a great friendship. In the spring of 1982, she met the love of her life Billy. The relationship would flower into love, producing a baby boy the late Isaiah Brian Brooks. In 2008 Billy and Darlene married. Darlene enjoyed hosting and attending family gatherings where she would dance, sing, joke and simply make everyone laugh. Darlene was the life of all occasions, the laughter and fun we had with her will never be forgotten. Darlene was a great listener and a great person to talk with. On September 3, 2023, God’s Angels of Heaven came to take her home where will suffer no more. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert, and Margaret, two sons Spencer and Isaiah, one brother Arthur, two sisters Tavaila and Joy. Darlene leaves behind to mourn her husband, William Dillard. Her two daughters Shaheida (Francy) and April (Michael); her grandchildren Richard, Deja, Brianna, Nasir, Wyzariah, Isaiah, Mason, Mekhi and great grandson Dakota; two brothers Robert and Anton; Special nieces and nephews Valeska, DeAndre, Sideah, Joy, Ebony, Tamara, Tamika, Chiquita, Kiana, and Anton Jr.
