Barbarann Durham

Barbarann Durham, 86, of Chester Pennsylvania has passed away in her home, due to complications after a stroke, April 23, 2021. Barbarann was born June the 5, 1934 to Mary Elizabeth LeBue and Samuel L. Brown who were predeceased. The oldest of two children and predeceased by her younger sister Diane Victoria Alvin. Survived by her two daughters Sharon Elizabeth Dixon-Brooks of Chester and Maryann Durham of Middletown, DE and two sons predeceased elder son James Dixon and survived by youngest son William Samuel Durham of Alexandria, Va. Leaving behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, three nephews, cousins, other relatives, her church family and a few important lifelong friends who are dearly loved as family. She was tremendously proud of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed hearing about all the goals they were achieving and passions they were discovering as Adults and building a legacy by adding more children to the family. She was a Sister, Cousin, Mom, Gram, Barb, Barbara Ann, Aunt Barbara, size 9, and Barbarann. Barbarann was born and raised in Chester, she lived in Leiperville, Crum Lyn, PA, and Darby Township but chose to return to her beloved hometown of Chester, PA. She was a member Saint Paul’s, Episcopal Church in Chester. Barbarann loved reading and was a bit of an historian, an artist and a picture framer. She had a green thumb and was a Master Gardener. She also loved to bake and baked sweets often. Her love for travel took her to Jamaica and California, but throughout the years she caught buses and trains to do her favorite things, exhibits, art museums, the theater, especially the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. She also caught trains and busses to do the same to go to Washington DC. Barbarann was a forward thinking, elegant, graceful woman. She was the family Matriarch; she loved her family and was loved by them. In earlier years she hosted family reunions and Thanksgiving dinners at her home. Barbarann attended Chester high school, 1949 dash 1952, West Chester University 1972 – 1975, Moore College of Art and Design 1997, Widener University, Geography 2006 and Art history 2007. Barbarann was retired but previously worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of welfare 2001 -2003 and 1993 -1998 and 1970 -1987, as a Case worker supervisor and Training supervisor. She also worked at Strom Communication as a production supervisor 1966 -1969, Clifton Precision as electronic assembly 1963 -1964 and Assistant Manager at Riverside wholesale 1960 -1962. Barbarann became a business owner in 1987 -1993, following her dream of opening her own frame shop, in Chester at 935 Ave of the States called, “Barbara Ann 's Frameworks”. She framed in managed all phases of the business. She was proud of her accomplishment and so was her family. Barbarann was also an athlete and in later years won the race across the Commodore Barry bridge for her age group. Barbarann will never be forgotten by those who loved her dearly. Prayer The Lord's Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
