Barbara E. Shepeard

Barbara Elizabeth Shepeard, of Wilmington, Delaware gained her beautiful wings into the kingdom on Monday July 25th, 2022. She was born on March 25th, 1954 to late reverend Isaiah M Boyer Sr. and Elizabeth M Boyer. along with her late twin brother Isaiah M Boyer Jr. From the beginning, to know Barbara was to know her through her family. She was raised in a home with three siblings, her big sister, Deborah Boyer, her twin, (late) Isaiah Boyer, Jr. and her baby brother Dennis Boyer Every day these four built lifelong bonds and memories. These four had a bond that could never be broken and always had each other’s back. She grew up in New Castle, DE. and attended DelaWarr High School and graduated in 1972. While in high school she met her sweetheart, (late) ex-husband Fred Shepeard Sr. From their twenty year union, she had three beautiful children. Her first son Devin Shepeard, only daughter Myra Shepeard, and youngest son, Fred Shepeard Jr. Barbara’s professional career highlighted who she was in her heart, a woman who always wanted be there to help others. She started her career in 1974, working at the Delaware State Hospital for nine years . She also worked at New Castle County Vo Tech & Brandywine School District as a paraprofessional for over 15 years where she assisted kids with special needs. To continue to support her family as a single mom, she would often work multiple jobs including working at Meadowood Hospital to help those who suffered from mental health challenges. Later on she worked for Citi-Bank and had the pleasure to work with a host of family members, her daughter Myra, son Fred, and nephew Isaiah. She even introduced her nephew to his now wife Stephanie while working there. After Citi Bank she worked at Agilent Technologies as a customer service representative for about 7 years. While in her career she has gained many lifelong friendships with many of her coworkers and family. Outside of her time working, Barbara’s number one true joy was spending time with her family. Barbara attended every single wedding, graduation, birthday and any event of celebration for those she loved. She regained a new sense of purpose once her grandchildren were born and embraced her new identity of being a grandmother. Barbara was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “G Barbie” and “ Grammy”. She would always say that her grandkids kept her young and even would keep up with her friends and family through social media. Above all, Barbara was a devout believer and in her own words she called herself the daughter of the Most High. She spent over 40 years dedicating her life to God. She was baptized and involved in multiple ministries including running the bookstore, sharing her faith with others and participating in the hospitality group in various churches in her life. Her favorite thing to do was to praise God and listen to praise music. Even through Barbara’s sickness she continued to lift her hands up and praise God. Her final hours were surrounded by her family listening to praise music and lifting her hands praising God. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Isaiah M Boyer Sr, her twin brother Isaisah M Boyer Jr and her granddaughter Julia Bradley. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her mother Elizabeth M Boyer. Her two siblings Deborah V. Boyer and Dennis O. Boyer. Her four children Devin Shepeard, Myra Shepeard and Fred Shepeard Jr and daughter in law Shyree Shepeard. Her eight grandchildren Alecia Young, Quiyamah Shepeard, Victoria Shepeard, Joelle Shepeard, Elizabeth Shepeard, Anthony Myers Jr., Jeremiyah Shepeard and Rachel Shepeard. Her four great grandchildren Noah Young, Olivia Young, Laylani Newman, Larry Newman and soon to be born Ezrah Ross.
