Allen Wesley Johnson Sr, so lovingly known as a man who never met a stranger, embarked on his final journey on October 22, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on October 22, 1954, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Allen’s life was filled with vibrant stories, hearty laughter, and an endless capacity to touch lives with his kindness and humor. Allen's journey began in the halls of Chester High School where he graduated in 1972 and set his sights on furthering his education. In 1978, he proudly graduated from Lincoln University with a degree in Political Science. It was during these formative years that Allen honed his gift for conversation, his love for music, and his passion for making a difference. In 1987, Allen married Lisa Ann Johnson and created a beautiful family. Together, they raised three children: Alycia Harvetta Johnson, who now looks over us from heaven, Allen Wesley Johnson Jr., and Alexandria Jessie Alston. His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he treasured every moment spent with his five grandsons: Amari, Ari, Kyrie, Karter, and Ashton, each one reigning as champions of his laughter and love. Allen was always on the move, a man who couldn’t sit still for long. After college, he began as a substitute teacher, often sharing more wisdom than curriculum and engaging students with his stories and wit. Beyond the classroom, he was an unwavering pillar in the community. As a street outreach coach and dedicated volunteer at the Bucks County Opportunity Council, Allen tirelessly assisted the homeless and continuously reached out to those in need. His 20 years of sobriety and active involvement with AA demonstrated his strength and unwavering commitment to helping others. He was a maestro of more than just conversation—his saxophone was a seamless extension of his being, each note a testament to his love for music. This love echoed through his life, much like his unforgettable laugh and ever-present smile. As we gather to celebrate his life on Wednesday, November 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Lukes Christian Church in Chester, PA, let us remember Allen not with sadness, but with fondness. As we recall these shared moments, we honor a life rich with love, laughter, and an abundance of goodwill. When you find yourself strolling down a quiet street, and Allen comes to mind, know that he's there with you, a half step behind, guiding your journey with the same warmth and humor he shared in life. His presence lingers in each sunrise and every kind act—a testament to a life well-lived and dearly cherished.
